About “Outback”

My name is David Mizer—aka “Outback”—and this site is just about my hiking stuff.  In 2018 I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) from Mexico to Canada. The same year, I also hiked the Bibbulmun Track from Albany to Perth in Western Australia.  In 2019 I hiked the Colorado Trail (CT) from Durango to Denver in Colorado.  In 2021 I hiked the Arizona Trail (AZT) from the Mexico-Arizona border to the Utah-Arizona border. In 2022, I’ll be attempting the 5,700-mile Eastern Continental Trail (ECT) from Key West, Fla. to Newfoundland in Canada. If you have an interest in hiking or just want to see what I’m up to, then I invite you to follow along with me!

I take in the world at three miles per hour with, as Colin Fletcher hinted, my “house on my back.”  It has been said that the “trail is a teacher” and I believe there is a lot to learn out here in God’s country.
